Government conspiracies, spiritual warfare, QAnon and the forum’s users say that we are under attack by the people in power.
QAnon originated on 4chan, an online anonymous message board.
QAnon was created by an anonymous individual who goes by the name “Q”.
This individual claims to have ‘Q’ level government clearance. This includes during Donald Trump’s administration. Furthermore, Q claims to have knowledge of top secret information regarding other political parties and members.
Soon after the creation of QAnon, Q moved the exposé to 8chan. This move allowed the owner (Q) to run and moderate the forum. There was little to no interference by the hosting website itself.
The most widely known conspiracies on QAnon include Donald Trump taking down a ring of paedophiles. There are also theories about sex trafficking rings within the American Government and Hollywood. As well as this, there are theories about spiritual warfare and “the great awakening”.
Many theories on QAnon gained traction online. The conspiracies regarding politics were aired by Chinese and Russian-owned media outlets. The specific conspiracies made public concerned the United States and Ukraine. This was publicised as recently as 2022, during the (ongoing) Russian and Ukrainian conflict.
The widespread misinformation and theories that Q writes about have also made their way into Australia. With former Prime Minister, Scott Morrison having ties to a notorious QAnon advocate, Tim Stewart.
The issue does not lie with Scott Morrison having friends with harmful views. The issue is that Tim Stewart’s wife, Lynelle Stewart, was a member of Morrisons’ staff. She was working as a “government employed helper” for Morrison’s wife.
It is not known if Lyelle Stewart shares her husband’s views, yet, their son does.
This couple’s influence on our former PM could have led to serious complications. It could have affected lawmaking and official responses in times of crisis.
In 2021, Four Corners planned to release an exposè. They investigated the involvement of QAnon within the Australian government.
After backlash and multiple delays it was released, the 50-minute episode is available on youtube.
QAnon and other conspiracies have the power to create dangerous global movements, backed by thousands worldwide.
The search for the truth has led people down the rabbit hole of QAnon and rarely spits them back out.
